When Is The Best Time To Make A Decision To Do Right?

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were people just like you and me. They had a past but they also had an expected future ahead of them. They, like you and I, had hopes and dreams…things they wanted to accomplish in their lives. They certainly didn’t want to die.

However, placed before them was a difficult choice:

They could surrender their hearts to another king and his idol or remain faithful and trust God when life wasn’t adding up.

I have kids. I have my daughter Madison and my son Noah. It’s my responsibility to prepare their hearts for the pressure and trails of this world. I can do that when I see temptation all around them or I can do that in advance of the temptation and trials. I choose to do the latter. I choose to teach them to choose to stand in advance of the pressure. Long before the pressure washes up on the shore of their life…I tell them often…make up your mind to serve God now. Don’t wait to make that decision when the pressure is on. Make it now.

When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego took their stand before Nebuchadnezzar, they didn’t know with certainty that God would deliver them. But they stood courageously anyway. They proclaimed unwavering allegiance to God no matter the outcome. When do you decide to stand up for God? Let me share with you a thought to ponder today.

Determination to stand up for God is made in advance of the call to bow to another.

Think with wisdom today. When is the best time to make a decision to do right? You and I both know deep in our hearts it’s well in advance of the pressure to surely come. That way when the pressure hits it’s not a decision that needs to be made, you are already living your decision in advance.

Daniel 3 16- 18

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.  17 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

  1. I couldn’t agree more with you. I choose to make my decision always for God long ago.
Since then I have been put on trial many, many times in big and small things and my decision for God always resulted in Him walking me through them. Thank you Lord!
